Pre-order dahlia tubers!
from $8.00

Two dahlia tuber types to choose from:

  1. Dinner plate variety - the famous β€˜Cafe au Lait’. This gorgeous (and huge) flower is a creamy beige to blush pink color. They produce blooms that can be 6-10 inches across on tall, sturdy stems. The CAL dahlias are a late bloomer in Maine often starting toward the end of August/early September and continue blooming until the first frost. These flowers are really too beautiful to be real!

  2. Ball variety - β€˜Cornel’ and β€˜Cornel Bronze’ varieties. Cornel is a beautiful deep red color and cornel bronze is an β€œantique-y” orange. They are perfectly spherical in shape and have medium size blooms about 3-4 inches across. They are massively prolific as every single plant produces SO MANY BLOOMS on very tall and sturdy stems. This has been my favorite variety due to their beauty and reliability. Cornel and Cornel Bronze have been my earliest bloomers usually starting in the first week of August (in Maine) and continuing all the way until the first frost.

*The price listed is for a single dahlia tuber. $8-10/tuber. Please select the total amount and variety you would like! The dinner plates will be packaged and labeled separately from the ball varieties. The Cornel and Cornel Bronze are mixed so you may get one or both!

Tubers are tucked away safe in our storage for the winter and will be ready in May. Pre-order now because there is a limited amount!

Late Summer/Fall Flowers CSA
$320.00

This is really the season to celebrate! Early August is when our primary crop, dahlias, make their appearance and they don’t slow down until the first frost! These absolute stunners are strong, sturdy, prolific, and have an excellent vase life making them one of my favorite cut flowers! Primary varieties include ball-shaped and dinner plate style.

This CSA will run for 8 weeks at $40/bouquet. Trust me, it is worth it!!

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for β€˜Community Supported Agriculture’ and is a type of structured farm share.

A consumer buys a β€œshare” of the farm’s harvest at the beginning of the season. This upfront cost supports the farm and farmer covering costs for things such as soil, compost, seeds, materials, animal feed, etc.

In return, the consumer receives regular deliveries or pick up opportunities for fresh, seasonal produce, flowers, meat, or eggs.

A CSA is a mutually supportive and beneficial relationship between the consumer and the farmer - the part we love most! The consumer supports the local farmer and their community while promoting the local economy and sustainability. The consumer also gets access to super fresh and seasonal products, potentially increasing their food literacy and nutritive value to their diet.

Francis Madeleine Farm uses sustainable farming practices through biodynamic efforts to support the environment, maintain safety and nutritive value of foods, and to foster the most beautiful chemical-free flowers possible.

Flower CSA shares will support future seasonal efforts to participate in the Maine Senior Farm Share - providing local produce to Maine Seniors in our area.

Thank you!
